OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Operations Discipline Manager provides the functional support to all (Deputy) Project Operations Managers and supports the Operations department's development and continual improvement.

The Operations Discipline Manager provides assurances that all processes are followed and adhered during the Operations Preparations and Operations Execution phase of every Project. The role shall also ensure operational oversight and engagement during the Early Engagement and Tendering phases of project life cycle including process improvement plans to support such engagement.

The Operations Discipline Manager is a team leader working in partnership with the Operations Director, leading in the development of the Operations Department, the project safety culture, and is a champion of the Subsea 7 Business Objectives and Values. This includes continuous conveyance of the safety leadership message to every team member in designing safety into equipment, procedures, and operations plans. The Operations Discipline Manager plays a key role in teambuilding, development and encourages the full participation of the team in all developmental endeavors.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities
  • Functional Responsibilities
    • Manage (D)POMs as a functional manager including technical, commercial/contractual and process guidance.
    • Responsible for (D)POM resource allocation to tenders and projects including management of time writing.
    • Manage (D)POM Compass reviews, development and training.
    • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure cohesive delivery of project deliverables, methods and design.
    • Support regional and global schedule planning by means of optimization and scenario planning
    • Champion Operations support of Predictable Performance and ownership of key operation elements
    • Owner of Operations SharePoint site
  • Early Engagement
    • Engage and work with Sales & Marketing: Pursuits and Field Development Group to ensure operational input is provided.
    • Support new country assessments and entry plans; in conjunction with In Country Operations Manager
    • Determine level of operational engagement with Offshore support teams required to support early engagement.
    • Support Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) studies and determine impacts to Projects during execution phase
  • Tendering
    • Develop, publish, and enforce operation engagement, input and deliverables in support of Tenders. Ensure consistency with all Tendering deliverables as a measure of Predictable Performance.
    • Manage all tenders, with support of (D)POM resources as required, from Kick Off to ATT. Assist with follow up clarifications and tender re-submissions.
    • Determine and publish all operational resource manhours in 7Resource, or governing tool, for all Tenders and Pursuits.
  • Operations Preparation
    • Support Projects as POM, where required (see POM Role Profile) and/or mentor POMs in terms of compliance with role responsibilities.
    • Attend and participate in Readiness Reviews
  • Operations Execution
    • Support Projects as POM, where required (see POM Role Profile) and/or mentor POMs in terms of compliance with role responsibilities.
    • Organize and coordinate sequence of regional offshore operations. Responsible for ensuring sequencing, or re-sequencing, is completed to provide the most effective offshore operation.
    • Participate in daily conference call (daily calls) with attendance of O/VMT, for progress follow up and provide instructions to the vessel(s).
    • Review offshore daily reports for overall input to regional offshore schedule and ensure consistency in reporting.
  • Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
    • Promote and facilitate project team awareness of company QA and HSE procedures.
    • Champion vessel Health Checks in conjunction with Projects and HSE, as required.
    • Review Synergi reports and participate closing necessary remedial actions.
  • Project Close Out
    • Responsible to standardize an operational close out method including de-brief of all key learnings following each Project
    • Ensure close out information/data is easily accessible through Operations SharePoint site
  • Operations Development and Improvement
    • Support Operations Director with the development and improvement planning to help build and sustain operational excellence and effectiveness for Project execution.
    • Ensure improvement plans and initiatives are balanced between Operations resources.
    • Promote process improvement plans for all Operations functions.
    • Support communication and dissemination of previous learnings through the Operations department and organization
    • Spearhead continuous improvement plans based around vessel performance feedback, incident trends and CSBs.
    • Interface and work closely with Group Operations in support of global initiatives
    • Lead innovation at the forefront of Operations

  • Operate within the Subsea 7 Code of Conduct and the Project Specific Charter, where applicable
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles (Vision & Values)
  • Support standards and procedures for the Operations Function

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

Commonly reporting and accountable to the Operations Director, the Operations Discipline Manager commonly interfaces with all departments and project functions with emphasis on safety, performance feedback and response, process assurance and operational efficiency.

This role is structured for the Operations Discipline Manager to effectively act as 'deputy' to the Operations Director as instructed by the Operations Director. This role does not limit the support Project's directly, effectively as POM, in the event Project demand requires such support.
