Job Overview

The Sr. Quality Engineer for Burndy is responsible for providing Quality Assurance related support and guidance to all locations of Burndy with a focus to the areas of Supplier Quality, Design, Customer Service, and New Product Development.

A Day In The Life
  • Monitor compliance with Burndy‘s Quality Policy and promote a culture with this approach
  • Instill a mentality of driving to root cause of issues and implementing corrective and preventative actions
  • In concert with the Burndy LeadQuality Managerand other BurndyQuality Managers/Engineers, develop quality policies, standards, and programs to drive continuous improvement of the quality of products and services to promote customer satisfaction. Lead/Execute/Support Quality driven projects as directed
  • Work with leadership to ensure compliance with the company‘s quality requirements, in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety and reliability
  • Ensure proper quality control execution on product moves and new product implementation between the fourBurndy sites
  • Partner with Sourcing/Procurement teams to drive supplier quality improvement, including effective quality-driven supplier evaluation, feedback, RCA of issues, and follow-up
  • Provide ongoing analytical and problem-solving support to plant management and customers on critical quality problems as directed
  • Provide education and training toquality personnel and business leaders on quality principles, directives and Burndy specific Quality related policies
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor‘s degree with a focus on engineering,business management, or industrial science required
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment withrelevant and progressive experience in Quality process employment, supervision, or support
  • Knowledge/experience with ISO9001 certification process required
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience with UL/CSA and other regulatory agencies preferred
  • DMAIC/Six Sigma and/or ASQ Certification (CQE/CQM) a plus
  • Experience in APQP and PPAP a plus
  • Ability to travel (up to 40%)
  • Proficient in Problem Resolution
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, customers and suppliers
  • Ability to acquire a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment, soft ware and contracts
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, probability and statistical inference to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Attentive to details and accuracy
  • Collaboration skills, ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills across different levels throughout the organization
