Summary

The Long Beach VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for one (1) Lead Program Specialist for Education Service Long Beach, CA. The Lead Program Specialist trains and supports a multitude of Office of Education programs and provides operational support and guidance to these programs. Ensures compliance with OAA directives; plans, writes and implements policies and procedures.

Duties

Provides interpretations, both verbal and written, of regulations, instructions, and policies relating to assigned areas of program operations Develops, delivers, and evaluates employee training and provide or arranges for specific administrative or technical training necessary for accomplishment of individual and team tasks Ensures employees are aware of available resources, services, and other employment-related items Responsible for training and coordinating with the responsible person in each service line that utilizes residents, fellows, and/or HPE trainees. Develops criteria for orientations to include speakers, courses, and computer classes. Ensures compliance with VHA, VA, and OAA directives; maintains and updates policies and procedures related to Education budget, Training Budget and disbursement agreements. Closely liaisons with all Clinical Staff Development, Talent & Organizational Development and GME affiliate institutions Deans, Associate Deans, Program Chairs, Program Directors, administrative, facilities, logistic and personnel entities to ensure appropriate support is provided and there is no interruption to patient care. Provides assistance, advice, support, training, and conflict resolution as required. Supports ACOS-Education and Deputy ACOS-E in the formulation, execution, management and analyzes for all Education, Training and GME budgets. Assists with administration of the Residency Program Full Disbursement Agreement and will be responsible for submission of obligations, and timely reconciliation of all trainee time sheets and invoices. Reviews and processes all formal requests for rotation and preceptor, verification of provided credentials and electronic archiving of approved requests Ensures successful in-processing and out-processing of approved trainees, maintaining security requirements and verification of immigration credentials of foreign nationals requesting to rotate at VALBHS Provides support to Deputy ACOSE and other Office of Education supervisors and staff in daily operations and management of training, education, GME, budget and associated program needs Ensures successful in-processing and out-processing of medical students in 18 clinical internships and sub-internships throughout the year at VALBHS Works collaboratively with Human Resources (HR), Office of Information and Technology (OI&T), and clinical staff.
