Landscape Equipment Operator

Do you have experience with operating construction equipment? In this role, you work with a team on landscape maintenance of right-of-way roads throughout the Sarasota County community. Apply today to help keep Sarasota Beautiful- Operate: Front end loader (1½ cubic yard or larger), Motor Grader, and Backhoe (1 cubic yard or larger).
- Transport: 23” larger long arm mower, Grappel truck, Gradall Hydraulic Excavator, trucks- tandems and tractors (greater than 28,000 GVM), and other large and complex equipment.
- Help keep roadways and rights-of-way clear and safely passable.
- Tasks include: removing debris, and hazards from roadways, and trimming trees.
- Tools used: chainsaws, weed eaters, pole saws, and other manual tools associated with right-of-way maintenance.
- Maintenance may include roadway drop-off, shoulder and washout repair, and grading of non-paved roadways/rights-of-way.
- Operate debris removal equipment to clear critical roadways during times of emergencies and natural disasters.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. * On-Call Required
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of heavy equipment.
- State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class “A” with Tanker “N” endorsement at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the effective operation of complex construction equipment and the hazards associated with their operation.
- Traffic and highway safety rules and regulations as they relate to transporting heavy equipment and MOT on the job site.
Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything ElseStarting Pay: $21.07 (Step 1)
Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
