Summary Statement
An incumbent in this class is responsible for coordinating the goals, objectives and planning activities for programs/projects developed and/or monitored for the criminal justice community.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Coordinates and oversees projects involving Criminal Justice system issues; chairs meetings, sets agendas, develops work plans, conducts research, studies and surveys, analyzes data, assists in goal setting and project development, monitoring and evaluation; prepares final proposals for approval and implementation.Oversees the administration of programs developed for criminal justice agencies including funding, grant administration, program promotion and policy and procedure development for program operation.
Provides technical assistance to other agencies on program planning, policy development and goal setting processes; acts as facilitator during meetings, workshops and conferences to assist agency staff in setting long and short term goals, program selection and issue identification.
Provides staff assistance to various subcommittees; assists the council in long-range goal setting.
Develops and conducts training programs and courses for various agencies in areas such as supervision/management, decision making, program planning and development.
May oversee and direct the work of lower level planners and interns involved in various projects/programs of the Council.
May monitor, oversee, coordinate or control operational programs on behalf of Delaware's criminal justice communities.
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Criminal Justice Planning Coordinator Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Three years experience in criminal justice research which includes systematic study to discover and establish facts. Three years experience in interacting and providing technical assistance to criminal justice organizations such as law enforcement, courts, corrections, parole boards, community groups, or local governments. Three years experience in professional planning program administration such as overseeing and directing the development, implementation and evaluation of professional planning programs and services; planning and establishing short and long range program goals and objectives. Providing advice to other agency organizational units through consultation. Three years experience in planning project management which includes planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating planning projects to ensure objectives are met. Three years experience in writing reports in a structured format containing an introduction, presenting the thesis, purpose or proposal with supporting evidence, explanation, facts, and analysis or examples with a conclusion or recommendations. Six months experience in public policy administration which includes overseeing and directing the development, implementation and evaluation of public policies. Six months experience in grant management and control which includes monitoring and evaluating grant expenditures.
