In an effort to support individuals at the Adult Correctional Facility (ACF) and in partnership with the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR), Behavioral Health is seeking to hire a Social Work Unit Supervisor to provide support to multiple social work positions. This role will support growing a team of individuals to support information, access, and referrals to resources that best meet the needs of ACF's residents. This position will work with many business partners including DOCCR, Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, Diversion Solutions, District Court, and Community providers.
The ideal candidate for this role will have an understanding of Mental Health (MH) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) as well as supervisory experience. Candidates should be knowledgeable about best practices of harm reduction, well organized, and able to facilitate timely communications. The candidate should also be able to engage with residents and staff and review information and needs of the program. This role will have oversite of case planning, review of team needs and goals, and coordinate information from Behavioral Health Court Services and DOCCR in the ACF. This role will report to the Behavioral Health Court Services area.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at the Government Center located at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, at the Adult Corrections Facility located at 1355 Shenandoah Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55447 and remote as job duties require. There is limited public transportation to the ACF facility. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility dependent upon facility and resident needs. Based on current requirements, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.
This is a full-time, benefit earning position.

Establish and maintain standards for customer service and quality work through hiring staff, coaching, training, and evaluation of performance. Work with staff to provide information and referral, outreach, assessment, crisis intervention, service coordination, and case management. Manage successful change by providing leadership on county vision and mission, involving team in problem solving, and promoting thoughtful communication. Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures ensuring compliance with human resource rules, state statute, and assessment and case management best practice and standards. Work with team to develop team goals, performance results and plan for implementation. Lead team in monitoring adherence of case management standards as well as county and state standards, processes, and procedures. Serve as program lead, subject matter expert, and ensure program compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Facilitate continuous process improvement of systems and programs by determining needs and improvements, developing plans, developing policies, procedures, and evaluating outcomes for services. Promote and maintain a work environment where all customers are treated respectfully. Need to have: One of the following:Six years or more of experience as a senior/psychiatric/child protection social worker at Hennepin County.Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 quarter credits or more of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, principles of social welfare, and four years or more of supervised experience as a social worker.Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three years or more of experience as a social worker. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work (LICSW). Experience:Working in a supervisory, coaching, mentorship, or other leadership role overseeing responsibilities and delegating tasks to team members.In waiver case management.Serving and engaging with diverse staff and clients. Knowledge of:Case management to include assessment, planning, and service development for seniors and populations with brain injury, mental health, complex medical, developmental, and physical disabilities.County and community resources.Social work best practices and ethics. Ability to: Foster an environment that recognizes and respects cultural, lifestyle, and socioeconomic differences.Establish and carry out effective working relationships with employees, other professionals, agencies, and residents.
