Job Summary

Loudoun County's Department of Information Technology is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Cable & Broadband Services Specialist. This position works collaboratively with citizens, and County staff, to work towards advancement of the Countys Broadband Strategic Plan and to advance activities to improve broadband, particularly in western Loudoun County. There is a large element of policy development, and this position has oversight of the cable TV franchise agreements and supports County cable TV requirements.

This position will:

Administer cable franchise agreement and related contracts; serve as point of contact for citizen requests and concerns about cable franchise and broadband matters.

* Manage Loudoun Express Request (LEx) citizen request system for cable and broadband maintenance issues and broadband service requests.

* Coordinate franchisee support for the build out of new/renovated county facilities and billing and accounting issues for other departments.

* Support initiatives regarding broadband and effectively communicate status of all initiatives.

* Provide A/V support for Communications Commission meetings and LEx updates (4th Monday of each month at 7:00pm).

* Coordinate supporting initiatives across the County; promote broadcast television and broadband services to businesses and citizens.

* Advise on broadband, wireless and cable technologies.

* Support Special Projects as required.

We are seeking an individual with:

* Knowledge of Cable TV and broadband related technologies/topologies.

* Knowledge of Cable Franchise agreements.

* Knowledge of cabling related to Wide Area Network (WAN) design, telecommunication, and cabling standard infrastructures.

* Knowledge of wireless networks.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires High School diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred); two (2) years of related technical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred experience with SharePoint, Teams, ServiceNow software, and local government experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Special Requirements:

Certifications preferred by department: Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers, Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation certification (ITIL), Project Management Professional certification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM),or Planview/Innotas.


Successful candidate will undergo criminal background check to include finger printing and DMV check.
