Job Description
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic II performs Journeyman air conditioning and refrigeration duties and serves as a working leader over an assigned group of air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and maintenance workers. Works under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman

Essential Functions
  • Make periodic inspections of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
    Select proper air conditioning and refrigeration materials and tools or power equipment.
    Order and assemble materials for job assignments.
  • Establish the sequence of tasks.
    Assign tasks to assigned air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and maintenance workers. Maintain current operating and maintenance records on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • Inform the maintenance foreman or supervisor of persistent maintenance problems and assists in planning work schedules. Alert supervision to maintenance, safety or personnel problems and assists in their solution.
  • Maintain records on assigned vehicles, materials, and supplies.
  • Enter occupied dwellings with accompanying employee. Check out tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Operate State vehicles and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Exertive: Significant exertion on a daily basis. Awkward postures and work positions; sustained activities require strength (e.g. using tools). Frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs). Unpleasant Exposure Minor Hazard: Moderate exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors.
    Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency or severity are limited

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
  • Graduate from high school or the equivalent
  • Combination of vocational training and HVAC experience equal to five (5) years
  • Required: HVAC license and EPA certification.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the principles of operation on cooling and heating equipment and the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Possess valid Texas Drivers License and be insurable under TSTC Liability Policy.
