Position Overview
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician II executes advanced air conditioning and refrigeration tasks and acts as a lead technician overseeing a designated group of HVAC mechanics and maintenance personnel. This role operates under the guidance of the Maintenance Foreman.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular assessments of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
    Select appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for HVAC tasks.
    Procure and organize materials necessary for assignments.
  • Determine the order of operations.
    Delegate tasks to HVAC mechanics and maintenance staff. Keep accurate records of operational and maintenance activities related to HVAC systems.
  • Notify the maintenance foreman or supervisor about ongoing maintenance issues and assist in developing work schedules. Bring attention to maintenance, safety, or personnel concerns and aid in their resolution.
  • Maintain documentation for assigned vehicles, materials, and supplies.
  • Enter occupied spaces accompanied by a staff member. Manage tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Operate state-owned vehicles and machinery. Perform additional duties as required.
  • Physical Demands: Regular physical exertion is necessary. The role may involve awkward positions and sustained activities requiring strength (e.g., tool usage). Frequent moderate lifting is expected. Exposure to minor hazards includes dust, grease, noise, adverse weather conditions, temperature fluctuations, and unpleasant odors, with occasional risks managed through safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A combination of vocational training and HVAC experience totaling five (5) years.
  • Required: HVAC license and EPA certification.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of cooling and heating system operations and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Possess a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable under TSTC's Liability Policy.
