Spur Design is looking for an Intern Architect with 2-6 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, is proficient in Revit software, can assist in project coordination, contribute to conceptual design, ensure compliance with standards, and provide technical support.


JOB REQUIREMENTS


  • Provide architectural and technical support on various project types within Spur
  • Design including AutoCAD/BIM project set-up, development, and detailing.
  • Develop and represent technical viewpoint on projects.
  • Participate in conceptual design and provides full support through entire project.
  • Assist in the development of tools and standards related to the BIM process and internal Spur Design drafting standards.
  • Assist in the operations of Spur Design offices in the maintenance of office systems including the updating of trade libraries and filing systems.
  • Assist in marketing, promotional, and business development activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal and external design team, including the
  • Architecture Lead, Project Manager, junior designers, and sub-consultants, to develop a project from initial idea to profitable completion. Travel may be required.
  • Assist the Project Architect in preparing and ensuring the completion of fully coordinated Construction Documents that comply with all project and code requirements.
  • Conduct project research in compliance with local, federal, and VA TIL standards.
  • Some client interaction and leading internal team meetings on small projects.
  • Perform submittal reviews under an architect.
  • Daily responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
  • Assisting the Project Architect in the coordination of sub-consultants at all production and drawing coordination levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with Spur drafting standards and quality control.



QUALIFICATIONS


  • Professional degree: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • 2-6 years of professional experience (non-licensed)
  • Taking ARE exams and working towards licensure
  • A portfolio of completed designs
  • Excellent technical skills, must have REVIT software experience
  • Strong creative design and ability to find unique solutions to problems
  • Time management- must be able to work on multiple projects at a time while
  • keeping to tight project schedules
  • Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills between architectural team, consultants, and clients
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to less experienced architectural interns or designers.

  • Short-term Disability (STD) and Long-term Disability (LTD) are provided at no charge and include compensation of up to 60% of annual base salary.
  • Life insurance in the amount of up to $100,000 or 2x annual base salary (whichever is less) is provided at no charge.
  • Health Insurance, employer covers 100% of employee premiums and 50% of family premiums
  • Dental Insurance, employer covers 100% of employee premiums and 50% of family premiums
  • Vision Insurance. employer covers 100% of employee premiums and 50% of family premiums
  • Retirement benefits include matching 401k contributions of 1-for-1 matching up to 3% and 1-for-2 matching up to 5%, with a maximum match of 4% for a 5% employee contribution. This plan is a “safe harbor” eligible plan and, subsequently, no vesting period is required past initial eligibility requirements.
  • Spur Design also offers reimbursement of training and professional organization dues or fees with prior approval by ownership.
