Spur Design is looking for a licensed Project Architect with 6-15 years of professional experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, proficiency in BIM and CAD software, and expertise in construction documentation and project management. This role involves guiding projects from concept to completion, collaborating with various stakeholders, mentoring team members, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.


JOB REQUIREMENTS


  • Lead the definition, development, and implementation of creative concepts and solutions according to each project Scope of Work and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Architecture, Project Manager, architectural designers, and sub-consultants to supervise and coordinate overall design and technical delivery to develop a project from initial idea to profitable completion.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Prepare and ensure the completion of fully coordinated Construction Documents that comply with all project and code requirements while also instructing and providing direction to architectural designers and drafters.
  • Conduct project research in compliance with local, federal and VA TIL standard
  • Coordinates and oversee internal team meetings and reviews.
  • Review all project correspondence including meeting notes and other data to stay fully informed on the project.
  • Coordinate Newforma project files and access
  • Perform submittal reviews and answer RFI’s
  • Along-side the Project Manager, interact with client and lead design meetings
  • Help to mentor and develop team members, providing opportunities for growth and professional development
  • Participate in the review and QAQC of each assigned project submission. Track and organize review comments to ensure incorporation into the design documents and compliance with Spur Design standards and quality control.
  • Conduct on-site observations and draft reports for Field Investigations.
  • Assist in marketing, promotional, and business development activities.
  • Work with the Architectural Lead to ensure effective and efficient use of staff and firm resources.
  • Participate in mentorship programs empower spur employees by being an asset to junior staff.



QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect 5+ years
  • 6-15 years professional experience
  • NCARB preferred
  • High proficiency in applicable BIM and CAD software(s).
  • Ability to lead and guide the production of construction documents
  • Portfolio of completed projects
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and zoning regulations
  • Coordination skills with Project Managers, consultants and schedules
  • Extensive knowledge of construction detailing and ability to prepare a complete set of construction documents
  • Leadership and mentorship of staff and internal project team
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to translate concepts into functional construction designs
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Knowledge of construction costs and time frames


BENEFITS

  • Retirement benefits include matching 401k contributions of 1-for-1 matching up to 3% and 1-for-2 matching up to 5%, with a maximum match of 4% for a 5% employee contribution. This plan is a “safe harbor” eligible plan and, subsequently, no vesting period is required past initial eligibility requirements.
  • Spur Design also offers reimbursement of training and professional organization dues or fees with prior approval by ownership.
