The Front Deskunit, under the direction of the regional office manager,provides customer service to the sportsmen/womenofthestateof Montana and technical and administrativesupport toall programs at the MFWP RegionalHeadquarters. Theregionaladministrativesupport staff is thepublic'sprimary andinitial contact presenting a professionaland knowledgeableimage for FWP.The front informationdeskservesasa primaryFWP license agent andis responsible for accuratelyissuing a variety of hunting,fishing, and miscellaneouslicenses, permits, and decalsand corrects errorson licensessoldbyexternallicense providers.

JobDuties:

Thispositionprovidescustomerservice,technical,andadministrative supportto allthe fish, wildlife, state parks, lawenforcementandinformationand educationprograms.Provides customer service duties associatedwith providing public information and services on a multitude of topics and activities that primarilycoverhunting, fishing,trapping,andrecreationalopportunitiesinMontana.Collects and handles money associated withlicense salesentering accuratelyintoa cash register. Must bedetailed oriented totrackquotas for black bear,mountain lion, bighorn sheep,and furbearing seasons. Inaddition, maintainsand tracksdata within acomputer trackingsystem.Assists the block management program outofthis local regional office(Region 5)issuing permission slips beginning lateAugustthroughthe fall.Collectsand accurately counts coupons andpermissions slipsturned infromlandowners afterthehuntingseasoniscompletedthatcan take up to three months of repetitivework. Thatdatais then accuratelyinput into Excel spreadsheets. This position requires advancedExcel, and O365 skills.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

The predominant duties assigned to the incumbent are performed in an office setting.The incumbent must be able to work independently, efficiently and exercise good judgment in an office setting with numerous interruptions.They are solely in charge of the front office, handling several multi-level functions simultaneously.Standing for long periods of time at the front counter issuing licenses during “peak” seasons.Sitting for long periods of time in a confined position, working on various computer assignments with repetitive hand movements and artificial lighting.Incumbent must be able lift 40 pound boxes.Angry, dissatisfied, rude and sometimes intoxicated callers and “walk-ins” often vent their frustrations on the support staff.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of job-related work experience.Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
