Job description
You will join the Rail Interfaces Team, who are based within the Integration and Security Directorate, and are responsible for supporting the incorporation and alignment of rail activity across the rail network.
As Integration & Reporting Manager, you will support your Line Manager in handling rail interfaces across the North of England, but will also have direct responsibility for specific rail interfaces from London to the midlands, which will include creating tools for tracking and monitoring. As you will have an oversight of the whole Rail projects portfolio, you will understand the projects and the impacts which they have on one another. Therefore, enabling you to identify possible risks and implications, and highlight these to the relevant stakeholders to ensure they are understood.
Within this role you will form collaborative relationships with our key partners, including colleagues working in Portfolio Offices and Programme Management Offices across our Rail Groups, and external colleagues such as Network Rail. As the majority of the interfaces the team oversee are within the Rail industry, it is important that you will be able to quickly understand and retain technical information and terminology, whilst supporting multiple workstreams and projects.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Managing and developing portfolio reporting, facilitating cross-group communication amongst disperse teams, and checking and challenging information to ensure key interdependencies and issues are appropriately raised and understood.Leading on the development and production of bespoke reports for Senior Management, ensuring technical jargon is communicated in a digestible way.Acting as a central point of contact for Public Transport and Local Group (PTLG) for Cabinet Office, Departmental and other commissions, ensuring a joined-up approach and response on behalf of the Group.Providing a secretariat support function for the team.For further information, please see the attached Role Profile.

About you
You will have knowledge and understanding of project management processes and will either already hold an APM or similar qualification, or be willing to work towards a project, programme or portfolio management qualification once in role.
You will be a proactive individual who is confident working on your initiative, and enjoys having the autonomy to decide how to plan your workload. You will be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment whilst supporting multiple workstreams and projects and will remain flexible when faced with changing priorities. With a high attention to detail, you will confidently manipulate an array of data to produce detailed reports to support decision making. You will be proficient with the use of various IT systems including but limited to MS Word, Excel and Teams. You will be able to quickly understand and retain technical information and terminology.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to develop positive relationships within and outside of the Department, enabling you to effectively advise and influence stakeholders. You will be comfortable handling all types of conversations, including handling conflicting opinions. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, which excellent drafting ability.
Additional Information
This role is available to individuals who wish to be spending their office time in London, Leeds or Birmingham, and we would also expect the individual to be willing to travel to visit different locations relevant to the route.
A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.�
