Responsibilities



Application of multi-scale computational modeling approaches to chemical systems Thoroughly documenting calculations, including design of computational approaches, and analysis of results Preparing presentations for internal and external audiences as well as manuscripts for technical documentation and for publication Independently applying computational science techniques to challenges in a research and development laboratory Working in technical teams to complete project tasks on time and within scope and budget Advancing technical approaches and making contributions that may ultimately affect the direction of the research
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

Chemistry, physics, materials science, chemistry, applied mathematics or engineering background with computer science skills Broad knowledge of computational methods applied to chemical problems Extensive background in preparing presentations for research updates and conferences as well as writing technical summaries of research Programming proficiencies (e.g., Python for data analysis) Experience in nuclear chemistry
Additional Information

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.

Requirements: 

* U.S. Citizenship

* Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

*Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the candidate selected is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 months can be demonstrated.
