Overview:


The Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) works to strengthen the ability of immigrants and Boston's diverse cultural and linguistic communities to fully participate in the economic, civic, social, and cultural life of Boston.

The Special Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing MOIA's efforts to build the City's capacity to respond to integrate immigrants by building immigrant infrastructure through advocacy, community organizing, and program/project execution.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the areas of focus will be to:

  • Operate as the Executive Director's Executive Coordinator/Special Project Manager, they will support her with building and managing a portfolio of short, mid, and long-term projects to scale up the City's immigrant infrastructure to both respond to current events while simultaneously building capacity for systemic change.
  • Support with building and coordinating various teams of city, state, and federal departments/agencies, volunteer groups, nonprofit partners, municipalities, nonprofit legal aid organizations, and communitybased organizations to engage in supporting the safe welcoming and resettlement of new migrant arrivals.
  • Support with securing vital resources to aid new arrivals, such as housing, food, clothing, etc., through procuring partnerships with government agencies/departments, nonprofit/forprofit organizations, and grant writing for federal resources.
  • Provide event planning and logistical support for training and know your rights/responsibilities workshops for eligible populations, as needed.
  • Serves as a support to the MOIA team on rapid response as needed.
This is not your typical 9-5 pm role. We are looking for folks who share our core values of people-first leadership, intentional strategy, and justice.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and facilitating project team meetings and network meetings to steward the development and progress of key projects.
  • Facilitating the execution of training and campaign events (i.e., coordination roles of stakeholders, securing rental space, and organizing required application materials, etc.).
  • Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders (government and nongovernmental) in service of key campaigns and projects.
  • Conducting outreach to build a network of organizations and volunteers to assist new migrant arrivals response/immigrant infrastructure that is culturally effective, multilingual, and multiethnic for diverse immigrant communities

This includes:

  • Developing an outreach plan and system to engage communities desiring to support new migrant arrivals.
  • Collaborating with communitybased organizations to promote screening and application workshops and clinics.
  • Creating materials to promote mass application events and walkin clinics.
  • Working with MOIA staff and communitybased partners to engage with immigrantserving media outlets to assist in community outreach to promote events.
  • Maintaining relationships with key partners, detailoriented record keeping, outreach/followup/followthrough, project management, team coordination, and training while maintaining the confidentiality of critical missions/projects.
  • Using project management systems and databases to maintain critical, uptodate information to inform strategy and rapid response planning, decisionmaking, and implementation.
  • Writing project plans and campaign narratives to be disseminated to stakeholders.

Additional Duties:

  • Attends network and community engagement events as directed.
  • Participates in regular office responsibilities, including phone coverage and constituent services.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Five (5+) years of experience in campaign management, project/program management.
  • Familiarity with MA immigrant communities and immigrant service organizations and entities.
  • Experience working with immigrants, immigrant communities, and people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in developing and implementing campaigns, events, trainings, and/or workshops.
  • Fluency in Haitian Creole, French, and/or Spanish preferred.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, logistical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including the ability to work with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
