Assistant Director - Early Childhood Center

The Vlasic Early Childhood Center (ECC) is seeking an Assistant Director to start in July 2024. The Assistant Director assists the Director in implementation of daily school operation, as well as in obtaining long term strategic goals. This individual should demonstrate a deep and thoughtful understanding of the developmental expectations and needs of children within this age group (3- to 6-year-olds). The Assistant Director is a member of the Brookside Administrative Team, serves on the Admissions Committee, and is in charge in the absence of the Director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the administration of the operations of the Vlasic Early Childhood Center within approved objectives, programs, and budgets.
  • Assist the Director in hiring, developing, evaluating, and retaining the appropriate faculty and staff to attain the objectives of the Early Childhood Center.
  • Responsible for creating and modifying schedules related to classrooms, lunch, supervisory roles, and special events.
  • Provide mentoring for new faculty.
  • Assist the Director with student behavior issues and communication with parents.
  • Support with curriculum development and implementation, as well as assessment.
  • Assist the Director in the development of policies, objectives, programs, and budgets for Early Childhood Center activities.
  • Participate in long-range strategic planning of programs, staffing and facilities for the Early Childhood Center.

  • Encourage and facilitate effective communication among the Early Childhood Center faculty and staff, the Schools, and the entire Cranbrook Community.
  • Assist with the development of programs, services and activities which support the education and growth of Early Childhood Center students.
  • Play an active role on the Brookside Administrative Team and the Admissions Committee.
  • Schedule and arrange for substitute teachers.
  • Administer the policies of Cranbrook Educational Community as they pertain to the Vlasic Early Childhood Center and Brookside School.
  • Participate cooperatively, constructively, and creatively within Cranbrook Educational Community to help further the Community's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Maintain attendance, punctuality, and performance standards set forth in Cranbrook's employee handbook. Requirements:
    • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
    • Successful school experience, demonstrating progressive leadership and responsibility.
    • Demonstrated ability for curricular and extracurricular oversight.
    • Proven fiscal and personnel management skills.
    • A commitment to the goals and objectives of Cranbrook Schools.
