College Program & Compliance Manager - Horizons-Upward Bound

The mission of the Horizons-Upward Bound (HUB) program is to prepare students who have limited opportunities from the Detroit Metropolitan area to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. HUB academically supports the efforts of the students' home school by providing services that assist students in pursuing and achieving their dreams and goals for their academic endeavors and beyond.

Cranbrook's Horizons-Upward Bound program is currently seeking a College Program & Compliance Manager. They will provide support to students in all aspects of the college admission process including, but not limited to: Developing and implementing workshops about successfully managing the college application process, providing assistance with the financial aid process, providing individual support in the college admissions process, communicating with colleges and universities about the HUB program, facilitating direct access to college representatives, and hosting informational events for students and parents about the college admission process. They will lead an effort to establish a common data system infrastructure across grades and conduct a robust analysis of education outcomes to determine how to enhance programming and ensure compliance with federal grant requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a 4-year year-round college preparatory program, which directly impacts all students in HUB.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a summer and winter workshop for rising seniors that provides instruction on successfully managing the college application process.
  • Individually support students in their college admissions process through direct counseling and communications.
  • Introduce HUB students to a wide array of colleges and universities, through printed materials, electronic media, and college visits.
  • Assist students with the college financial aid process, including disseminating information about scholarship opportunities and ensuring a yearly FAFSA workshop.
  • Encourage students to participate in additional opportunities for educational experiences, such as internships and summer programs.
  • Educate parents about the college admissions process and the financial aid process.
  • Facilitate students' direct access to college representatives by organizing the annual HUB College Gathering and inviting representatives to HUB to meet informally with students.
  • Market the HUB program to colleges and universities.
  • Design and manage systems for math and reading performance data collection analysis and interpretation.
  • Extract, analyze, and report annual performance data to the Department of Education and HUB Leadership Team.
  • Ensure collection of data necessary for Federal Grant compliance.
  • Complete State and Federal Grants and submit required documents on EdGrants.
  • Manage EmPower and IXL – serving as account lead with Program Director. Requirements:
    • A Bachelor's degree is required, as well as a minimum of two years of related experience.
    • Knowledge of Upward-Bound programs and experience in college counseling is preferred.
    • A background in working with low-income/at-risk student populations.
    • Effective communication skills; written, oral and interpersonal.
    • Ability to manage a multitude of tasks at once, as well as the ability to respond to unforeseen issues.
    • Commitment to equal access.
    • Requires a valid Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
