The Manager-Athletic Trainer Program manages and oversees the day-to-day operations of all Athletic Training Program functions for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. Ensures that all staff and Athletic Training programs support the hospital's mission, goals, and strategic objectives, serving the best interests of our patients. Directs and oversees the design and implementation of new business opportunities to the community. Collaborates with COC physicians in providing care and interfacing between our community partners and the COC sports medicine team, and managing a team of athletic trainers. This would include: in-office clinical/surgical support, phone consultation, community outreach, and sideline care.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Performs supervisory functions by interviewing, selecting, and providing training for new staff; by approving and denying time-off requests; by approving or disapproving recommendations from subordinate staff on personal actions; by evaluation subordinates' performance; by hearing and resolving employee grievance; and by determining the need for and initiating disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing for the agency, program, division, or institution; by regularly meeting with Athletic Training staff members individually and providing one on one time for needs/feedback or open discussion; by providing input into supervisors actions including appraisals
  • Directs, coordinates, and provides leadership in the design, development, and implementation of athletic training programs, clinic expectations, and community relationships. Set mission, vision, and expectations for Athletic Training team. Coordinates activates of the larger sports medicine team including Physicians, Neuropsychologists, ATCs, and Research Assistants/Volunteers. Responsible for growing and developing the role of Athletic Trainers in clinic.
  • Finalizes budget requests, prepares required written narrative and reviews the final proposal with the Director. Responsible for Conference planning/budgeting
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of community relations and educational programs/resources offered for coaches and community members. Participates in event coordination of medical care and supply provision. Oversees coordination of setting up community service events with the providers. Oversees management of Young Athlete Academy Contracts. Manages and approves decision matrix for Young Athlete Academy Partners
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies. Responsible for reviewing and developing viable new product lines and business opportunities. Responsible for development and execution of business development and expansion efforts, Works with the administrative leadership team, program directors, and sports medicine team to develop and implement a marketing plan promoting the program as a community leader, educational resource, and sports medicine home for athletes
  • Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of Athletic Training Programs ensuring community needs are met. Regularly reviews and evaluates the quality of programs offered and implements improvements as needed.
  • Oversees daily tracking schedules for Athletic Training team. Responsible for the daily coordination and utilization of clinic coverage, and utilization of YAA partners. Distributes AT projects, productivity, timeliness, accountability, and accuracy of work. Responsible for overseeing strategic and analytical data in support of planning projects and Athletic Training Program development. Oversees communication between legal/risk teams and outside vendors. Coordinates annual and quarterly CME's, Bi-Annual Sports Medicine Retreat, and monthly Sports Medicine Meetings. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university and a strong academic record Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience License/Certification: (CAT) BOC Certified Athletic Trainer Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $93,308.80 to $123,708.00
