Job Summary: The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall development of the project. Assists with project design, management, and implementation. Promotes the project and serves as liaison between the project and contacts internal and external to the University. Position may also supervise students, provide general office assistance, create promotional materials, and assist in the development of other potential projects.

Additional Department Summary: The Alabama Water Institute (AWI) is one of The University of Alabama's five research institutes. AWI acts as a forum for interdisciplinary research and education by bringing together university researchers, students, and staff to foster collaboration and a broad interdisciplinary focus on water issues that face our world today. AWI-affiliated researchers specialize in water security and quality, remote sensing, hydrological modeling, biodiversity, watershed management and human health through synergies with AWI research programs, including the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology, the Global Water Security Center, and the CONSERVE Research Group.

AWI is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to join the AWI Project Management team. This position will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) and is expected to primarily lead coordination, administration, organization, and internal communication efforts. The project coordinator will also assist with program management efforts to support adherence with federal, state, and organizational reporting requirements.

Continuation in this position is contingent upon availability of external funding derived from research programs or specific projects.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient with computers and spreadsheet applications used for data management. Detail oriented, organized, able to meet deadlines, and exercise critical thinking skills. Skills in convening and facilitating diverse groups. Anticipates and plans proactively for known deadlines and annual cycles.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with supporting or managing large-scale projects preferred.
