Title: Associate Designer

Job Type: Design, Game Development

Location: United States, Utah

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks an Associate Designer to join the Hogwarts Legacy team on their next project.

The Daily

  • Works with the Lead Designer and Development Team to propose, iterate and drive design around various elements of the game, from narrative to UX.
  • Interface with the Story team, UI/UX team to collaborate on game design solutions such as mission UX, save game and tutorial design
  • Present design ideas, receive feedback, then adjust designs and metrics accordingly
  • Own, drive and implement Tutorial design and implementation across the game using UE5 and bespoke toolsets
  • Work in Miro, Confluence and other design communication tools
  • Other duties may be assigned

The Essentials

  • A passion for gaming and game development
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with Unreal 4/5 (UE4/5) and Maya
  • Good understanding of UE5's Blueprints
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, production-oriented environment
  • Remain current on console games and a knowledge of game mechanics across a variety of genres and platforms
  • Ability to collaborate with a design group and across other disciplines while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Highly motivated self-starter and creative thinker with fresh ideas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Industry experience as well as a related undergraduate degree
  • Pursuing a degree in Game Design or equivalent degree in a creative field strongly preferred. (Art/Illustration/Storytelling)
