Your Role: As an Instructional Technology Associate, you will collaborate closely with a team of learning experience designers, multimedia developers, and content writers to support the creation of non-degree, skills-based online certificates. Utilizing Design Documents provided by the Learning Experience Designer, you will play a key role in developing and modifying courses on the Open EdX platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and customization of new non-degree offerings.
- Ensure the functional design quality of courses and assessments.
- Collaborate with team members to create superior online learning experiences based on research-backed best practices.
- Explore and implement technologies that meet program needs, including simulations and virtual reality.
- Consult with the WGU Academy Product Design and Development team to effectively utilize instructional and assessment tools.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of WGU's learning and assessment resources.
- Work with the accessibility team to guarantee all tools and services are fully accessible.
- Partner with project managers to meet deadlines throughout the design and development phases.
- Implement revisions based on stakeholder feedback.
- Identify and resolve technological challenges related to content delivery and student experience.
- Evaluate existing and emerging e-learning technologies that align with WGU's performance indicators.
- Stay updated on changes and innovations related to WGU's platforms and processes.
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in online course design and development.
- Strong background in distance education and workplace training is preferred.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with cloud services.
- Experience with learning experience design and competency-based education.
- Knowledge of open educational resources and quality assurance standards.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and assessment tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
