Position Summary
Assume a key role in the financial modeling of Corporate Development initiatives that will position the Company for long-term growth and create value for our customers and shareholders. This role with primarily entail running, maintaining and improving Corporate Development's financial model used to evaluate potential business opportunities and requires extensive experience working with Excel-based spreadsheets. A large focus of modeling efforts will be focused on renewable energy investments and other carbon free technologies. Also assists the VP Corporate Development and other team members in the development of corporate development strategies.

Essential Responsibilities

Support the financial modeling and analysis of acquisition and divestiture opportunities, with a strong focus around renewable generation assets and other carbon free technologies.Act as the key resource in running Corporate Development's Excel-based financial model used to screen potential opportunities.Model projects under various scenarios and sensitivities. Collaborate with Energy Supply, Transmission Access, Business Area Finance, Technical Accounting, Tax, Treasury and other Company experts to develop model inputs and assumptions.Evaluate model output and investigate unusual data or unexpected results. Summarize and communicate results to the Corporate Development team and Company leadership as appropriate.Provide revenue requirement models to Resource Planning for input into their IRP software for purposes of generating revenue/cost impacts of proposed projects. Develop working knowledge of the IRP model including inputs and assumptions driving results.Prepare presentation slides for the Company's internal Financial Council and the external Board of Directors Finance Committee.Support Regulatory and Legal in preparing petitions for approval of proposed projects. Draft testimony and prepare responses to information requests as needed.Maintain and improve the Corporate Development financial model. Find ways to enhance the model design, capabilities, flexibility, and ease of use.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. MBA, CPA or CFA desired.Minimum 7 years finance or accounting experience in the electric and gas utility industry or related experience.Thorough understanding of revenue requirements across Company jurisdictions.In-depth knowledge of valuation principles.Experience in project management.Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of renewable energy project development and modelling As a leading combination electricity and natural gas energy company, Xcel Energy offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy-related products and services to 3.4 million electricity and 1.9 million natural gas customers across eight Western and Midwestern states. The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $130,576.00 per year
