Job Summary

Responsible for managing publication of web content and interactive tools in support of company business objectives. The primary focus is pipeline construction project communication initiatives with an emphasis on web-based publishing and using electronic communications, i.e. email, text-to-subscribe applications, to support company strategy and business unit objectives in Gas Operations.

Essential Functions
  • Can become or preferably is familiar with natural gas industry terminology.
  • Ability to read, interprets, utilize and discuss technical documents and maps.
  • Works closely with the Web Content Management tool (Vignette and SharePoint) to develop, publish and manage content for the company's internet and intranet sites.
  • Write/update web copy, fact sheets and frequently asked questions that supports construction initiatives as directed with proactive messages.
  • Communicates with Corporate Communications management, Engineering, Government Relations and other support departments in the management and implementation of the web components for major projects.
  • Assists the Web Channel Manager with the planning, implementation and maintenance of the CNP's Web content related to Construction Services field projects.
  • Works closely with the content providers to place content on the web site, making edits and procuring final approval for publishing.
  • Works closely with Project Manager and designers to ensure site and application usability.
  • Ensures adherence to CNP's Web style guides and brand standards
  • Monitors industry trends and provide ongoing recommendations for enhancements to the CNP Web site.
  • Develops and monitors the CMS architecture for content integrity.
  • Monitors site content and function for accuracy and recency.
  • Uses WebTrends and other metrics to report site activity.
Essential Functions (cont.)
  • Serves as liaison between Web Channel group and IT, Gas Capital Delivery and other CNP departments.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots Web performance, including testing at the site, channel, and page level and pre-launch testing of new content and applications.
  • Help prepare web pages for migration to a new web platform, reviewing and updating content as needed.
  • Attends internal construction meetings and site visits with management and develops potential site location project descriptions to gauge scope of ongoing construction projects.
  • Develop notification letters and emails for customers, city staff, public officials, neighborhood associations, business associations, local newspapers and media outlets and other external stakeholders as needed along project construction areas.
  • Serves as support on other interactive initiatives including social media such as Facebook and Twitter accounts, email, video inclusions, site platforms and others.
  • Schedule, coordinate and attend public open houses, community meetings and staff informational booths when needed in support of construction activity.
  • Maintain and update the Arc GIS Minnesota map of the high-profile construction projects throughout the construction year as needed.
  • Reviews, analyzes and interprets traffic control plans provided by others and create user friendly versions for customers and the public to view on the construction website.
  • Update and revise website overlays as the scope of high-profile construction projects change or construction schedules are revised.
  • Assists in determining the advance customer notification radius for high profile construction projects, if additional outreach if needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including participation in CNP's Emergency Operations Plan.
Education Description
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in computer sciences, a communications area, business administration or a discipline developing communication skills from an accredited college or university.
Experience
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience working with Web Content Management Systems or a similar database content system.
