Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), School of Public Health is inviting applications from well-established and dynamic faculty with expertise in aging for the newly endowed Judith A. Sugar Endowed Professorship in Gerontology. This is a state-funded, nine-month, tenure-track position at the Associate or Full Professor rank.

The successful applicant is expected to have a recognized track record of scholarship in aging including publications and funding, and maintain an independent program of research; contribute to the school's teaching and service mission; and engage in university, community, and professional service.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH etc) in social/behavioral science, public health, gerontology, or a closely related field, preferably from an accredited School of Public Health
  • Demonstrated contributions to the field of aging and ability to maintain an independent program of research, including ability to secure external research support
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, as well as in a multidisciplinary environment

School Information

The CEPH Accredited School of Public Health offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as several certificate programs ). The school offers PhD degrees in Epidemiology and Social Behavioral Health, MS degrees in Biostatistics and Kinesiology, MPH degrees in Epidemiology, Social-Behavioral Health, Health Administration, and Public Health Practice, and BS degrees in Public Health and Kinesiology. The faculty and their students conduct state-of-the-art research and are funded by federal, state, local, and private sources. UNR is a Carnegie R1 Research University, established as Nevada's land-grant institution in 1874.
