Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct a team of maintenance staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of public works services.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans to ensure that our city's infrastructure is properly maintained and repaired.
  • Coordinate with other city departments and external agencies to ensure that our public works services are aligned with city goals and objectives.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for our maintenance staff.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to identify and prioritize maintenance needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Develop and manage budgets for maintenance activities and ensure that expenses are aligned with city budget guidelines.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience in public works maintenance and repair, including two years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with city staff, external agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve public works services.
Working Conditions

The Public Works Operations Supervisor will work in a standard office setting and outdoor field environment, with frequent travel to various city sites. The incumbent will be exposed to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, raw sewer, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. The incumbent may be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
