About the Role
Across the globe, millions of riders depend on Uber's web application to fulfill their mobility needs. The Mobility Web Team at Uber is redefining an Uber ride on the web and expanding our features. In this role, you'll work across the core booking funnel stack, encompassing highly scalable distributed systems and delightful user experiences. As a product engineer, you will lead consumer product features with a team of product managers, UX designers, and data scientists to provide market-defining products and trip-planning experiences over the web.
This role allows you to select between a full remote or a hybrid work arrangement at one of our offices in the United States or Canada.
What You'll Do
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and build cross-functional solutions.
Dive deep into multiple tech stacks across the company to create scalable micro-services and implement efficient algorithms.
Track the success of your feature experiments, collaborating with Data Science and Product teams to iterate on delightful user experiences.
Coach and mentor junior engineers or new engineers joining the team.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of industry experience in backend development
Experience working on large-scale distributed systems, Data-driven architecture, and systems design that scale to millions of users.
Experience delivering production-quality features in Golang
Excellent Problem-Solving skills to take on challenging problems and drive solution
Web development experience in programming languages such as Javascript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience working with web application development frameworks and libraries such as , , , Angular or
Proven expertise in shipping high-quality features on schedule
Curiosity to learn the rides business with an emphasis on providing a delightful experience
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link []).
