International School of Brooklyn seeks a dynamic, hardworking, self-directed full-time Physical and Health Education Teacher for the school year and beyond. This person will also ideally take on the role of Athletics Coordinator of our Middle School Athletics program
The ideal candidate is one who understands and enjoys working with adolescents (ages 11-14), who inspires students to love and value physical and health education. Other desired attributes include a growth mindset, patience, positivity, and flexibility. The candidate must be capable of teaching 6-8th grade students in both PE and Health.
Description of Position
Teach multiple sections of 6th, 7th, and/or 8th grade PE and Health classes
Serve as a Homeroom advisor for a group of middle school students
Write detailed narrative reports twice per year
Write recommendations in support of students' high school applications (as needed)
Develop unit planners in line with the IB's philosophy
Foster a positive, inquiry-based learning environment
Support students outside of class as needed during the school day
Provide timely and consistent feedback to students and families
Communicate effectively and build strong partnerships with students, families, and colleagues
Attend and chaperone annual overnight trips (as needed). Coordinate the middle school athletics program, including securing coaches for soccer, basketball, and track seasons
Qualifications:
Teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting; experience teaching in an
independent, international, or IB school is a plus
Degree in education, and/or significant experience and skill with teaching PE and Health
Familiarity with and commitment to inquiry-based learning
Supportive, student-centered approach and ability to differentiate instruction
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective classroom management skills with knowledge of Positive Behavioral
Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Comfort and experience with educational technology including Google Suite
Collaborative spirit and a commitment to being a team player
Dedication to professional growth and participation in school-wide initiatives

Salary Range : Minimum $63,178 to maximum $103,940 (based on teaching experience)
