Part-Time Middle School Spanish Teacher

The Packer Collegiate Institute invites applicants interested in teaching part-time ( 50-75% ) Middle School Spanish ( grades 5-8 ) for the academic year
Anticipated start date: August 2024
Language learners at Packer learn language, culture, and content in every unit, with social justice and real-world themes woven throughout. Our ideal candidate has a FLES background, near-native proficiency, experience with Responsive Classroom techniques, and an understanding of the ACTFL and / or CEFR framework(s).
Responsibilities:
Teach 2-3 sections of Spanish and design engaging curricula and lesson plans Collaborate closely with others in the department Engage actively in departmental and school-wide diversity, equity, inclusion, & anti-racism efforts Communicate proactively with families via written and oral communication about student work and progress in English Lead and participate in various off-campus field trips Applicants should possess: Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred A strong background in Spanish-language education and enthusiasm for working with elementary and middle school students A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community A sincere and visible commitment to excellent teaching and continued professional development Demonstrated ability to develop creative student-centered activities for a diverse group of students A wide array of evidence-based evaluation strategies based on the standards outlined in the ACTFL and / or CEFR framework(s) Familiarity with the effective use of technology in teaching a language A genuine desire to collaborate with colleagues Comfort with and interest in working with students in an advisory capacity Experience with Responsive Classroom pedagogies are a plus Packer's comprehensive commitment to diversity and equity requires all faculty members to actively and thoughtfully engage in work around identity, anti-racism, and inclusion.
