Emergency Medical Technician Contingent/On-Call

Job Summary:

  • The Emergency Medical Technician role involves providing out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients.
  • Functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician by the State of Alabama.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR/AED First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Must be able to lift/push up to 200 pounds.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Working knowledge of the physical layout, street systems, and demographics of the University of Alabama campus and surrounding area.
  • Excellent clinical, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and health care professionals.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
