Outside Interactive, Inc. is looking for a business-minded transactional attorney with 7+ years of proven complex corporate and commercial contracts experience gained at a law firm and in-house at a media, technology or e-commerce company to join its growing legal team. This role provides a unique opportunity to assist with the creation of a legal department that supports a wide-ranging dynamic collection of active lifestyle brands. We are looking for a motivated and diligent attorney who is comfortable with a broad range of responsibilities ranging from commercial transactions to data privacy, content ownership, product counseling and content licensing. The right person for this role is comfortable operating largely independently in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.

Within 1 month, you will:
  • Provide strategic counsel to company leadership, including related to areas of risk and mitigation strategies.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including marketing, technology, licensing, business development, HR, master services, contractor, confidentiality and other commercial agreements.
Within 6 months, you will:
  • Partner with the company's senior leadership and business teams to manage, negotiate and execute on a broad range of commercial initiatives and the organization's day-to-day operational / contract needs and strategic priorities.
  • Lead efforts in preparing, implementing and refining various contract forms, processes and procedures.

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Play an integral part in establishing a legal function at Outside: including systems implementation, policy drafting and process education and roll out.
  • Develop and conduct periodic employee trainings on various matters.
  • Engage in or lead various other projects and duties, which may include data privacy, compliance, product counseling, public policy matters, real estate and insurance.

What YOU bring to Outside: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • JD required. Bar admission and in good standing in at least one state.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years working in-house, preferably at an early-stage company.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex technology, commercial and intellectual property agreements.
  • Experience managing risk and compliance as applicable to a variety of business units and ability to anticipate and advise on risk with a commercial mind set based on the needs of the business.
  • General knowledge of data protection laws (both U.S. and international)/regulatory requirements highly desirable.
  • Be extremely bright but also have an EQ to match your IQ, and the ability to engage effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision but be a team player with a great "can do" attitude, and willingness to take the initiative to make a significant impact across the business.
  • Be comfortable simultaneously managing workloads, multiple client demands and shifting priorities within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment

Remote jobs and those jobs that can be located in Boulder, Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $190,000 to $230,000.
