This is a fully remote position

As the Assistant Controller at PEAK6 Insurtech, you'll be integral to managing and maintaining the general ledger for the PEAK6 Insurtech entity and its subsidiary businesses. This individual will report to the Insurtech Director of Finance. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities, maximize process efficiency, drive automation, and improve speed to delivery. Working in the Finance team at PEAK6 Insurtech means that you'll always be presented with a variety of new possibilities as you continue to enhance your skills.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff accountants of the PEAK6 Insurtech accounting team reporting to you.
  • Align accounting processes working with other Insurtech Controller teams and PEAK6 corporate accounting teams such as accounts payable, treasury, payroll, and FP&A.
  • Responsible for payroll posting and review, month end close of Insurtech entities, consolidation, intercompany eliminations, revenue reporting, expense analysis, bank reconciliations, capital contributions, intercompany loans; Year-end and periodic budgeting and forecasting for parent entity. Assist in accounting for strategic investments and M&A opportunities.
  • Manage the timeliness of the month end close process across businesses, including supporting the preparation, review, and finalization of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, automation and standardization that will result in greater efficiencies as well as decrease exposure to financial misstatements.
  • Assist in building and maintaining adequate controls to ensure the accuracy of corporate and businesses financial statements.
  • Assist in and drive aspects of year end audit with external auditors and internal staff.
  • Help develop and train a skilled, professional accounting staff to build an effective and efficient team.
  • Assist and at times drive evaluation, management of and maintaining software tools for effective and efficient accounting and financial reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Strong month end close experience including multi sub consolidations
  • US GAAP and FASB knowledge
  • Experience with NetSuite is preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in complex multi entity organization
  • Cross-functional experience operating in a complex organization
  • Strong project management, planning and organization skills, including ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuous improvement attitude: ability to seek out and implement internal or external best practices
  • Strong analytical ability and perseverance to solve problems with high attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to ethics and integrity
