This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the office) and the ideal candidate will be based in Portsmouth, NH, or Boston, MA.
Job introduction:
The Legal Technology organization is looking to hire a Technical Platform Product Owner II who is enthusiastic and driven to modernize the legal data platform. The candidate will be responsible for leading the squad to achieve 3 key objectives:

  • Help deliver API first approach to data access by removing direct access to our existing data warehouse to support better transparency, data health, and allow simpler impact assessments.
  • Move to a new data structure for warehouse data that supports greater flexibility and faster time to market for business process and IT system changes.
  • Modernize the data intake process for warehouse data to promote more accurate, timely data that is less stale.

As a member of the Agile team, the candidate will work closely with stakeholders (business and technology), to define and prioritize features and stories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and organizational goals. Understands customer, technology and infrastructure challenges in detail and ensures the problems are clearly defined, prioritized and the squad/team is focused on the most valuable work for the organization. The candidate will communicate with the stakeholders to ensure an aligned understanding of how the squad/team can provide the highest value for the customer through the lens of the organization. Collaborates with squads/teams, technologies, solution engineers and architects across the organization to develop an understanding of the technologies and systems they support.
About the job:

  • Responsible for articulating and translating the product vision into features. Communicate the product strategy effectively to key stakeholders and team members. Contributes to the creation of a clear channel strategy, product vision, and roadmaps with Portfolio Architect, Solution Engineer and Senior Product Owner support.
  • Responsible and accountable for assigned feature level key performance indicators (KPI`s) and manages features or product(s) with a medium degree of KPI, scope, complexity, etc.
  • Defines minimum viable product (MVP) for products/features in scope. Owns scrum team backlog (grooming, prioritization and refinement). Helps key stakeholders to better understand the product vision with Portfolio Architect, Solution Engineer and Sr. Product Owner support.
  • Works day to day with the scrum teams clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating and gaining alignment around feature or product strategy. Has some knowledge of customer-driven design and usability test principles.
  • Ensures delivery of scope, partners with delivery teams to ensure user stories are clear, partners with Sr Product Owner to align resources and remove barriers for team members and resolves open issues/questions quickly and efficiently. Acts as the `voice of the customer.
  • Analyzes feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential programs.
  • Sets the quality standard for delivery. Develops test plans (user story acceptance criteria), accepts each story and potentially features and participates in team demos and retrospectives to validate quality, provide feedback to team and improve team processes. Partners across functions as needed to coordinate delivery plans, testing, training and support.
  • Manages delivery of scope, partners with delivery teams to ensure user stories are clear and resolves open issues/questions quickly and efficiently.
  • Communicates the feature or product strategy effectively to key stakeholders and team members. Incorporates stakeholder input into product roadmap while effectively negotiating tradeoffs of conflicting priorities based on value to the business and customer.
  • Approves final stories and approves completed user features or series of features.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, humanities etc. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of Technology experience with minimum 3 to 4 + years' experience as a Product Owner with focus on APIs, messaging/eventing, and/or data management preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with insurance practices is beneficial, while possessing legal knowledge is equally valuable.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.
  • Able to depict complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences.
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities & vision for product and understand business value impacts.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders-strong leadership skills.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions on a daily basis with some levels of uncertainty.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
  • Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio strongly preferred.
