At EMDO, we machine various prototype engine components to support our prototype and Ford Performance engine assembly operations. The engines we assemble go to various global prototype vehicle buildsites and support engineering testing and development.

The components we manufacture are machined to tight tolerances. In the role of Layout Technician, you will use various tools/skills/equipment to measure critical features to verify that we meet and exceed customer specifications.

In addition to supporting prototype vehicle and engineering testing, you will provide stop-ship support to various production plants.

  • Have concise knowledge and working experiences with Inspection Layout principles & gauging, including Internal & External Micrometers, Verniers, Bore Gauges, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, etc.
  • Exceptional Engineering Blueprint Reading, to include strong GD&T methods and concepts.
  • Experience working with precision Automotive Engine related components, such as Cylinder Heads, Cylinder Blocks, Crankshaft, Camshafts, Ancillary Engine Components, Electrification Components etc.
  • Familiarization with Casting & Forging Layout Inspection.
  • Working knowledge of both Metric & English measurement standards.
  • Must have practical understanding, set up and operating experience of Zeiss, CMM, Adcole, Opticline, Coherix and Hommel Surface Finish & Contouring equipment to obtain complex, precise measurements of Automotive Components.
  • Experience with Millipore Component Cleanliness processes.
  • Have programming knowledge of Zeiss Calypso 7.0 and Adcole Program Builder software.
  • Working knowledge of Drafting & 3D Modelling software, such as CATIA V5, VisMocup and AutoCad.
  • Communicate to the Engineering & Machining Community the measurement findings in a concise and professional manner.
  • Maintain Inspection data records in relation to Ford EMDO's Quality Operating Systems and Processes.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal Supervision.
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of Geometric, Demonsioning, Tolerencing (GD&T) experience
  • Demonstrated Servant Leadership behaviors
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt
  • Prior inspection experience is a key to success
