What you will do:
- Champion safety in all areas within his/her responsibility. ensures that all safety policies and procedures are closely adhered to and initiate corrective action as needed
- Maintain good housekeeping within area of responsibility
- Identify employee training needs and work with mill flotation engineer and mill superintendent to provide the needed training
- The Concentrate General Supervisor has frequent contacts with consultants, OEM representatives and vendors as needed to remain current with the latest developments in technical or mechanical advances
- Must remain in constant contact with contractors when being used
- Safely works with 4 crews on rotating basis working in a mining environment in all kinds of weather and adhering to all state and federal regulations
- Ensures all spills are reported and handled in an environmentally approved manner
- Ensures that maintenance has been properly performed to ensure maximum operating time for maximum production
- Daily, ensures that all supervisors are up-to-date on all production changes that have taken place during their absence and communicates departmental priorities
- Must determine when maintenance work is required and how to approach the job. Makes recommendations on work that can be postponed in order to accommodate production requirements
What you will bring:
- High School Diploma/GED, plus a minimum of 10 years of practical, hands-on experience in a process environment-i.e., working with specialized mining/processing equipment, having broad knowledge of principles of Mineral processing unit operations
- Ability to develop and implement production plans, and a working knowledge of factors that influence processing/mining costs
- Have knowledge of maintenance procedures for processing equipment
- Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to mining in order to remain in compliance
- Practical experience in the intricacies of slurry transport, phosphate flotation and dewatering
- Position requires incumbent to have a proven history of directing and coordinating business production needs
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate all levels of personnel
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and be highly motivated and self-directed
- Ability to conduct meetings and keep records of time, safety, production, and personnel
- Ability to effectively communicate-both verbally and through written instructions-task directions, and job assignments
- Strength and dexterity to personally inspect all areas of responsibility that may affect employee safety, and environmental integrity
- Technical degree or Bachelor's Degree in Science in relevant field, is preferred
- May be required to be clean shaven for safety reasons
- Ability to wear required, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)--i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus
