Position Summary:

The Quality Department Intern will assist in the day to day functions of the Quality group. Essential duties shall include routine monitoring of compliance to procedures governing; Quality Audits, Non-conforming Material Areas, tracking and charting causes for rejected gears through the Met Lab. The Quality Intern will assist the Quality Group in special projects related to quality and engineering topics as well as assist in maintaining our document control system. The Quality Intern will be key in the development and maintenance of quality systems within the plant while supporting the Key Performance Indicators of the plant, focusing on the Quality Department.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support Document Control System (OMDS; Online Managed Document System).
  • Support for Quality Management system in accordance with ISO/TS 16949.
  • Support Layered Process Audit (LPA) system.
  • Support for coordinating action items related to internal and external quality concerns
  • Auditing control of non-conforming product
  • Purchase requisitions in SAP
  • Assist Met Lab Coordinators
  • Support for Product & Process Engineering for warranty review and / or line audits
  • Support for continuous improvement activities in the plant.
  • Other duties as required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Training/Education Requirements: High School diploma (or equivalent) required and currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate (within 2 years) required.
  • Strong computer skills required; candidate must be proficient in MS-Office Suite, with proficient understanding of MS Excel in Macros and formulas.
  • Must be quality oriented and pay attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated, with ability to prioritize and accept direction from multiple sources.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be flexible to work off-shift hours when necessary, as Marysville is a 3-shift operation.
  • Must be available to work overtime on days and/or weekends when necessary

Preferred Skills and experience:

  • Previous manufacturing experience

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks in a specified time while standing.
  • This position is required to do extensive walking, pushing & pulling throughout the production areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (11 kg) and use fine motor skills to handle parts or tools in a repetitive production environment.
