What part will you play?

The Programming Manager is responsible for coordination and development of control system programming associates. The position reports to the Director of Programming & Configuration. He or she is accountable for the development, resourcing, implementation, and continuous improvement of the programming & configuration teams. Accountable for ensuring the programming team is aligned with the needs of our clients by partnering with Sales, Business Unit and Operations leadership. This role will work closely with the project teams to ensure deliverables are completed on time with high quality, following current standards. Facilitate discussions with cross-functional and globally distributed groups and departments including schedules, estimates, and challenges. Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure Programming meets project needs and is delivered consistently and to a high level of quality. Manage geographically separated team members along with training and development plans. The role is accountable for motivating, mentoring and demonstration of being a student of the business, through communication and navigation.

What will you be doing?

  • A clear understanding of project phases: requirements gathering, conceptual designs, detailed designs, fabrication, testing, commissioning, training, and support - and leading a team through the lifecycle
  • Point of escalation for programming. Leading a team through projects that are not meeting expectations. Motivating and directing the team to achieve the clients' goals in an expedited manner
  • Collaboration with engineering and operations leadership, accountable to ensuring programming & remote configuration team has the skills required to fulfill projects and delight customers
  • Track performance of teams to drive utilization, efficiency, quality, savings and added profit
  • Empower programming associates to take ownership and accountability of timely and quality deliverables
  • Monitor programming standards and processes. Implementing these standards and processes in collaboration with the engineering teams, project ops, and PMO, assuring client satisfaction and profitable projects
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor associates. Lead project support teams in meeting design deliverables that support all projects, with excellence
  • Ensure career pathing and associated training opportunities are available for our associates
  • Break down silos, build bridges amongst divergent groups, driving an inclusive one company mindset. Promote teamwork both locally and globally
  • Facilitate resource sharing across territories and business units and specialties. Ensure associates are cross trained in all necessary business systems and tools
  • Skills matrix planning
  • Directly responsible for the quality, consistency, and efficiency of the work product.
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards (organize peer reviews to ensure code and UI meet quality standards)
  • Coordinate weekly in person and virtual meetings, workshops and team building events including manufacturers and vendors

Complexity:

  • Directly manages individual contributors. Individual contributor roles included are Associate Programmer, Programmer & Senior Programmer.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Programming & Configuration.

Decision Making Authority:

  • Hire, coach, discipline, and mentor team members
  • Project bid estimations for programming labor
  • Timesheet approvals
  • Coordination of Programmer assignments
  • Proactively engage project teams to optimize project delivery
  • Point of escalation
  • Enforce the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Responsible for preparing and tracking programming team budget

What do we require from you?

  • Experience in Workplace and Digital systems engineering
  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-I or CTS-D desired
  • Competent in Agile and Scrum methodologies
