Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno's Cooperative Extension is recruiting for a full-time Facility Supervisor 1 for its Las Vegas office. This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repairs of all buildings for Southern Area Extension. This position is responsible for duties which include vendor relations, working with contractors, securing and documenting bids, and supervising a staff of one. Successful candidates will have a strong knowledge in the areas of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, grounds keeping, painting, maintenance and administrative duties and will work closely with the Area Director and accounting for fiscal measures related to maintenance and repairs.

Required Qualifications
  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of experience in building construction or building maintenance; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
Pursuant to NRS , this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Incumbent will occasionally work outdoors in extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, wind and rain. Regular exposure to chemicals, machinery, and equipment some of which have sharp edges and moving parts. Regular duties will include climbing, lifting, reaching, twisting and moving heavy objects.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. This position will also be responsible for emergency and after hours calls as needed and directed. This is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 31 (Entry, Step 01 $23.49/hr. - Step 03 $25.57/hr.)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
