Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is responsible for the advanced preparation for maintenance jobs; Responsible for maintaining equipment data, preventive maintenance data and calibration data; processes change control for equipment and preventive maintenance documentation, coordinates calibration program, coordinates maintenance planning operations within the site for consistency, plans and schedules maintenance work orders, schedules all PM's, maintains equipment histories, analyzes equipment & preventive maintenance effectiveness, and tracks maintenance metrics.

Demonstrates mastery of all maintenance management programs (Inventory Control, Calibration Program, Preventive Maintenance Program, SAP, Work Order Control, etc.) Assures compliance with FDA & GMP regulations. Demonstrates the ability to lead and/or greatly influence a team (i.e., Engineers, Operations and Outside Vendors) in the effort to solve and execute corrective maintenance work and complete preventative maintenance work. Is a recognized resource to others when developing new maintenance reports, standards, and metrics.

Provides input in the management of Maintenance and Repair Budgets. Implements cost saving initiatives. Uses vast experience in maintenance to conduct in-depth review of maintenance planning responsibilities in order to suggest and implement process improvement ideas.

Duties:

  • Develop corrective maintenance task lists for planned maintenance jobs.
  • Ownership of the preventive maintenance (PM) program.
  • Print and distributes preventive, predictive, corrective and emergency maintenance work orders.
  • Perform revisions of current maintenance plans and maintenance task lists
  • Develop new maintenance plans, maintenance items and maintenance task lists.
  • Kit parts for planned and preventive maintenance work orders
  • Develop and maintain bill of materials (BOM's) for equipment, functional locations and/or maintenance assemblies.
  • Ownership of the process of analyzing the work requested to determine the actual work to be performed, tasks, task sequence and methodology and the identification of resources – skills, labor, crew size, parts, and materials, special tools and equipment. Also includes an estimate of total cost and identifies both preparatory and restarts efforts required of operations and maintenance.
  • Run & Review SAP reports for Corrective Maintenance issues.
  • Compares estimated PM time to actual PM time and adjusts maintenance task list details accordingly.
  • Reviews individual area and line/equipment PM schedule for resource leveling requirements
  • Develops new reports, enhancements to existing reports to deliver required information.
  • Reviews PM frequencies and makes changes accordingly (preventive maintenance evaluation and optimization)
  • Works in conjunction with Reliability Engineers on change control documentation for equipment and calibration changes, new equipment, new tooling, and other maintenance data requiring change control.
  • Works in conjunction with Reliability Engineers to coordinate downtime windows for engineering project maintenance work with production planning, coaches, vendors, contractors.
  • Works in conjunction with Reliability Engineers to complete Preventive Maintenance Change Control, along with identifying instrument status in SAP.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring/tracking of department maintenance/cost metrics.
  • Participates in FDA Audits, Corporate Audits, Local Audits as needed.
  • Works with Reliability Engineers on quality investigations, common equipment reviews
  • Works in conjunction with Reliability Engineers to ensure calibration activity and accuracy.
  • Initiate and approve various levels of change control process for calibration/PM changes and new equipment and new tooling.
  • Initiation and execution of change controls for new and existing PM's
  • Provides training & direction, communication of enhancements to SAP, feedback, and work order search.
  • Plant Maintenance SAP Coordination
  • Execute changes to the PM module in SAP.
  • Initiate and Process Change Controls In SAP (ECM)
  • Execute equipment movement/relocation in SAP.
  • Participates in weekly production/maintenance scheduling meetings and staff meetings.
  • Develop Task Lists for planned work, including parts, drawings, working with vendors and stockroom.
  • The weekly scheduling of maintenance work includes coordination with the asset owner/ equipment custodian and allocation of all resources required to complete specific jobs.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of Maintenance experience; or
  • Associate degree in technical field and a minimum of 7 years of Maintenance experience; or
  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of Maintenance experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • In depth understanding of plantwide flow and related computer systems and applications
  • Knowledge and experience of CMMS systems is essential, ideally SAP.
  • Working knowledge of cycle time and inventory management, GMP's, Government regulations
  • Technical competence in mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, process controls, plant utility systems, engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Experience managing vendors and contractors.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Outlook.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • GMP knowledge and experience working in pharmaceutical packaging.
  • Previous involvement in regulatory inspection activities
  • Demonstrated experience of interacting with site, divisional or regulatory audits
