The ideal candidate will support the highly automated Hot Strip Mill by analyzing reasons for production disturbances in cooperation with other maintenance and production personnel.
Troubleshooting of power distribution systems and variable frequency drives, as well as researching, developing, and coordinating work orders through completion to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.
The Basics:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with electrical maintenance in an industrial environment, preferably in a steel mill
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and understand electrical/electronic components/inverters.
- Competencies in multiple programming platforms with use of ladder logic, function block and textual/statement list logic
- Knowledge of AC motors, variable frequency drives, sensors, and actuators
- Knowledge of power distribution systems
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with iBA Analyzer
The Extras:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree would be a plus
- Experience in the steel industry
- Experience and knowledge in power distribution systems from 35kV – 480V, motors, variable frequency drives, automation systems, measurement systems, instrumentation equipment, and hydraulic systems
- Experience with Siemens (Simotion & Sinamics) drive systems

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance of Variable Frequency Drives such as Sinamics G120, Sinamics S120/S150 & Simotion SM150 drive systems
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance of Low & Medium Voltage Power Distribution systems such 35kV Switchgear, Dry Type MV Transformers, 480V Switchgear, Motor Control Centers
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance of Large AC Motors (700kW – 12000kW)
- Analyzing, solving, and reporting of electrical problems and failures
- Perform and assist in Lock Out Try Out of equipment, systems, and sub systems
- Continuous improvement of the equipment reliability by developing and reviewing PM's
- Work with Planning and scheduling for PM and corrective work order execution
- Conducting maintenance activities utilizing SAP software (Notifications, Work orders, Spare Parts, Service Entries, etc.)
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) on lengthy delays within a team environment and execute Corrective Actions (CAs) to mitigate future occurrences
- Developing and Auditing Energy Control Procedures (ECPs) to ensure the safety of team members performing work on mill equipment
- Writing of electrical maintenance work instructions and HIRAC development
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office & Industrial setting in the Hot Strip Mill
- Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
- Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
- On call availability
