Position Overview

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of automated laser welding systems by conducting thorough analysis, troubleshooting, and recommending improvements for all electro-mechanical components to align with the operational objectives of Soft Source Inc.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance within an industrial setting, ideally within the steel sector
  • Solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering concepts, schematics, and precise tolerances
  • Ability to acquire skills in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and statement list logic
  • Willingness to learn about power distribution systems, motor drives, sensors, actuators, and communication protocols
  • Capability to understand hydraulic and mechanical drive systems, along with alignment techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with industrial CO2 laser welding technologies and optics
  • Understanding of process automation systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, power transmission, and complex machinery alignment
  • Experience with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Proficiency in process trending software such as IBA
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot intricate technical issues
  • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of automated CO2 laser welding systems and related equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on complex electromechanical systems, including hydraulics, gearboxes, laser optics, PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, and communication systems
  • Engage in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) within a team framework and implement Corrective Actions (CAs) to prevent future issues
  • Initiate and execute continuous improvements in equipment reliability by developing and reviewing preventive maintenance schedules, enhancing functional location details, and refining material master data in SAP
  • Conduct maintenance tasks using SAP software (Notifications, Work Orders, Purchase Requisitions, Spare Parts, Service Entries, etc.)
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to maintenance technicians and operational team members
  • Develop and audit Energy Control Procedures (ECPs) to ensure the safety of personnel working on equipment
  • Willingness to travel for training and best practice exchanges
