Montgomery Bell Academy (MBA) seeks to hire a full-time Director of Campus Safety & Security

Position Overview

MBA is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Campus Safety & Security to lead our comprehensive security program. The Director of Campus Safety & Security will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of campus security operations, including security personnel management, visitor management, policy development and implementation, emergency preparedness, and coordination with local emergency responders including law enforcement agencies. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of implementing effective security strategies, managing security personnel, and fostering a culture of safety within a diverse campus community.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement campus security policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  2. Manage and oversee a team of security officers, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  3. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.
  4. Coordinate with campus stakeholders, including academic departments, administrative offices, and student organizations, to address security concerns and promote a culture of safety.
  5. Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders to develop and maintain effective emergency response plans and procedures.
  6. Oversee the operation of campus security systems, including CCTV cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  7. Respond to and investigate safety and security incidents, and take appropriate action in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  8. Provide leadership during emergency situations.
  9. Serve as the primary point of contact for campus security matters, including liaison with external security vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  10. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in campus security and recommend updates and improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the security program.
  11. Other reasonable duties/responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree.

    Minimum of 10 years of experience in campus security, law enforcement, or a related field, with progressive leadership responsibilities.

    Valid security license or certification (e.g., Certified Protection Professional, Certified Campus Security Professional) preferred.

    Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing campus security policies, procedures, and protocols.

    Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a diverse team of security personnel.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

    Proficiency in security systems and technology, including security cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems.

    Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to campus security and emergency preparedness.

    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond calmly and decisively during emergency situations.

    Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.

    This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits. The Director of Campus Safety & Security will report to the Director of Finance & Operations
