The Senior Manager, Risk Intelligence is a key member of UnitedHealth Group's (UHG) Corporate Security team and leads the Risk Intelligence program for the company. The Corporate Security organization is responsible for the Enterprise Workplace Security Program that facilitates the protection of the company's global workforce and physical assets through security risk management platforms. The Senior Manager, Risk Intelligence will report to the Director, Risk & Response within Corporate Security.

The Senior Manager, Risk Intelligence will be responsible for maturing, leading and operationalizing UHG's strategic security risk analysis and assessment function - the Risk Intelligence program - in line with key risks, industry best practices and peer standards. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting the development and execution of the global strategy for the Risk Intelligence program; monitoring, triaging, analyzing and reporting all-source security and geopolitical intelligence of relevance to UHG, including but not limited to topics such as political violence, social unrest, terrorism, criminal activity, insider threats, fraud and workplace violence; leading and managing a high-functioning team of Risk Intelligence analysts; composing strategic risk assessments, forecasts, and trend analyses for leadership; and preparing and delivering sophisticated intelligence briefs to a variety of stakeholders across the company.

Experience working within the security/intelligence field within the public or private sector - specifically leading or playing a key role in an intelligence program which identifies intelligence needs for an organization and provides ongoing intelligence analysis and awareness - is required. Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, including experience in delivering briefings during high-stress and crisis situations, is required. Substantive knowledge of industry best practices in risk intelligence is required. Experience managing employees is a plus. The candidate will need to build and maintain solid internal partnerships with multiple corporate stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with Corporate Security and business stakeholders to develop global intelligence requirements and priorities for the organization
  • Manage a team which evaluates all-source security and geopolitical intelligence, employing intelligence resources to identify and assess security risks which could impact the company's employees, assets and/or operations in the near, medium, and long term
  • Manage and support the creation of a variety of security intelligence reports, forecasts, trends analysis, and risk assessments, ensuring consistency across our global regions and stakeholders
  • Provide briefings to Corporate Security leadership and other key stakeholders on a variety of different intelligence products based on strategic and operational security requirements
  • Manage the development and maturation of intelligence methodologies and products, and create processes and operational procedures for communicating and disseminating intelligence
  • Provide live monitoring during key business activities and ongoing monitoring of known threats
  • Provide situational monitoring during periods of heightened risks and reporting on critical events with impact to employees, assets, and/or operations
  • Manage the process of security incident/crisis identification and escalation to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Support existing contingency planning and critical incident/crisis management processes as the key security intelligence lead for the company
  • Support the collection and aggregation of internal security data, information, and metrics
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders and leadership
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with corporate intelligence partners in peer organizations and with government and law enforcement agencies
  • Maintain a solid understanding of corporate intelligence best practices and emerging industry trends and tools
  • Manage and provide recommendations to management regarding the Risk Intelligence program technology suite, gaps, and requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This role requires after-hours on-call availability, including nights, weekends and holiday as needed
  • This role requires up to 15% travel

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience working in the intelligence field, ideally in targeting or analysis, in the public or private sector
  • Ability to work after-hours on-call, including nights, weekends and holiday as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a team, preferably in the security/intelligence field
  • Ability to engage internal and external stakeholder groups through clear and concise communication
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; solid proficiency in MS Office products, including the ability to develop and deliver executive-style PowerPoint briefings
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work effectively during emergency situations
  • Substantive knowledge of intelligence best practices and trends
  • Substantive knowledge of and experience in intelligence tools and methodologies

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
