The Solution Design team leads partnership due diligence efforts with prospective health system clients to assess the financial value and operational delivery risk of a partnership with Optum. Our goal is to convert sales prospects into revenue generating partnerships using Optum's solutions to make the health system work better for everyone. We work closely with the initial sales prospecting process and delivery to determine financial value opportunity and methods to create revenue and/or efficiencies for our clients.

The Senior Data Lead will leverage data to interpret client performance and provide analysis that supports partnership solution design for potential clients. To complete this effort, the Senior Data Lead should have an understanding of healthcare performance analytics and commit to developing a level of proficiency and knowledge about Optum's solutions. This role will also coordinate with a wide array of cross-functional diligence teams within the following areas: revenue cycle, information technology, analytics operations, clinical services (i.e., care management, ambulatory practice operations, provider network, risk & quality), finance, and human capital. This role is crucial to ensuring timely and accurate responses to data requests and downstream analysis supporting partnership design and contracting commitments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate directly with senior client executives and internal Optum leaders to manage assessment and due diligence projects with a focus on data & downstream dependencies. This responsibility will require a strong client & project management skillset.
  • Manage the data collection process for multiple simultaneous client projects. Apply in-depth knowledge of a data request to coordinate intake and analysis of large amounts of information.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Conduct assessments evaluating health system performance spanning a wide breadth of functional areas including revenue cycle, information technology, analytics operations, clinical services (i.e. care management, ambulatory practice operations, provider network, risk & quality), finance, and human capital.
  • Confidently communicate data and findings to internal and external senior executives with clear supporting evidence. Plan and deliver well-structured oral and written communications, highlighting strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with counterparts to support work associated with multiple/simultaneous clients. Adaptability and ability to pivot based on new information and client needs.
  • Develop expertise in pursuit processes to then design and recommend methods that improve efficiencies within the data engineering team.
  • Establish quality measures and implement processes to track appropriate metrics to communicate results during client pursuits as well as team-level quarterly results.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with hospital-based operations teams, recognized healthcare consulting firm, or healthcare solutions provider
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and Visio
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization utilizing PowerBI, Domo, and/or Tableau

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP and/or 6-Sigma methodology
  • Background in healthcare sales and/or analytics
  • Proficient in python & SQL language and experience in relational database management/manipulation
  • Epic and/or Cerner EHR experience
  • Appreciation of commercial vendor software products used in business and clinical areas within hospitals (E.g., HIS Systems, ERP, CRM, Imaging, etc.)
  • Creative, strategic thinker with excellent critical thinking skills, curiosity mindset
  • Track record as a successful individual contributor with experience collaborating across multiple teams, both technical and business operations focused

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
