Purpose

To assist the Director of the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) in implementing a wide range of activities to advance the center's mission-to promote teaching, research, and outreach related to this critical global area. Serve as senior staff liaison to the College of Liberal Arts for the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies.

Responsibilities
  • Grant Administration - Work with the director to ensure that all NRC and FLAS grant activities are carried out and reported in the online reporting system. Act as a liaison for the center to the granting agency alongside the Department Manager, coordinating program evaluations, helping with budgeting, overseeing grant reporting and submission, and maintaining relationships with major NRC constituents, post-secondary institution contacts, faculty affiliates, international program leads, visiting scholars, heritage organizations, and the community. Act as a point of contact for all international programs and visiting scholars. Assist the director in developing and implementing professional development opportunities and other initiatives that benefit CREEES faculty, staff, and students.
  • Event Coordination - Assist the CREEES director in fielding CREEES events requests from internal and external stakeholders and assessing relevance to our unit's goals and objectives. Act as point person, team coordinator, and organizational lead for all CREEES academic, cultural, and professional development events unless otherwise assigned by the director. Assist the CREEES director in building and maintaining relevant and strategic co-sponsorships and partnerships across campus. Serve as the primary point of contact for events staff support and participants. Communicate effectively with all involved parties, tracking all aspects of event planning and budgeting and delegating tasks to appropriate staff (e.g., travel bookings, event reporting, etc.).
  • Student and Alumni Engagement - Assist the graduate advisor with graduate student recruitment and other program needs. Create and implement professionalization services for CREEES students, such as professional development workshops, alumni and employer networking, internships, and career services. Work directly with the CREEES Communications Specialist on creating and maintaining an alumni database, updating the Alumni Spotlights page, and sending out the alumni survey annually. Coordinate and cultivate an alumni network and produce data reports on alumni activities as needed.
  • Development/Donor Coordination - Serve as development liaison and work with the chair/director and the CoLA Development Office on donor relations and alumni outreach. Duties include developing and implementing a fundraising plan, cultivating relationships with existing and potential donors, hosting fundraising events, seeking new opportunities for alumni engagement and fundraising, writing and sending thank you notes/emails to donors, and working with the Communications Coordinator on creating and maintaining a donor database.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field. Four years of experience in program coordination and management. Experience working in an academic context with students, alumni, donors, and faculty. Professional demeanor. Experience managing employees, schedules, budgets, and events.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Four years of experience in program coordination and management. Master's degree in a field relevant to Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Proficiency in UT administrative processes.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
