Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Histocompatibility, Immunogenetics and Transplant Immunology to support the transplant programs and other clinical programs that utilize services provided by CHOP's Immunogenetics Laboratory. Expertise in serological, cellular, and molecular testing is required. Applicants must have an Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Applicants must be board certified or eligible for certification by the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. Applicants with additional training in clinical pathology and those who meet board certification requirements to serve as a clinical consultant are valued and encouraged to apply.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and mentoring of fellows, residents, and medical/graduate students.

Clinical responsibilities may include clinical test analysis and sign-out, quality control, review and update of standard operating procedures, test development and validation, clinical innovation and research, and interactions with clinical colleagues.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include research related to the field of immunogenetics/transplant immunology. Opportunities for collaborative, translational research are available with members of basic science and clinical departments throughout CHOP and the University of Pennsylvania.

This individual will serve as Assistant Director of CHOP's Immunogenetics Laboratory and is responsible for assisting the Director for the overall management of the laboratory. CHOP's Immunogenetics Laboratory is part of the Division of Genomic Diagnostics. It supports the hospital's Renal, Hand, Heart, Lung, and Blood and Marrow Transplant Programs and serves as a reference laboratory for multiple transplant centers nationally. The lab is an innovator in the field of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics and candidates should have strong academic and scientific interests that align with the mission of the lab.
