Job Description

Position Summary

This position provides the role of Product Development Specialist at LGC Standards. Product Development Specialist is responsible for processing new metal alloy and powder products through the development process. This includes requesting quotations for analysis, sending out samples, and properly filing received data. This position will be tasked with working as a cross-department liaison to ensure new products are delivered into production effectively and in a timely manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive the process to successfully bring new metals and powders from procurement, sampling, homogeneity testing, ILAP testing, certification, and bring to market
  • Support the Production and QC process by organizing the analysis of materials by outside laboratories
  • Work with Product Management, Procurement, and Global Supply Chain to evaluate products for inclusion as NPD or replenishment parts
  • Prioritize and organize NPD and replenishment products to increase efficiency and minimize costs
  • Ensure that work prioritization is kept on track; including expediting orders that are late or tracking late
  • Ensure new products have accurate information input during part setup
  • Facilitate regular review meetings for the NPD or ILAP process with necessary stakeholders
  • Help coordinate and prioritize ILAP and sample Shop Orders through the Shop in a timely manner
  • Support machinists and area supervisor with CNC equipment knowledge and ERP system knowledge
  • Exemplify the LGC core values on a day to day basis
  • Help create and maintain all ISO procedures and reference documents related to the testing and production of metal alloys and powder products
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Essential

  • Associates degree with exposure to science (e.g. chemistry or biology); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred
  • Microsoft Office skills and ERP system familiarity

Preferred

  • 2 years product experience with metal alloys and powders
  • Experience with ERP systems, inventory control, procurement, lab data, and more
  • Knowledge of machining (including CNC) and Industrial manufacturing

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
