Job Summary

The Manager of Construction software will direct a team of technical and functional Business Analysts supporting and developing software solutions for the Construction, Equipment and Safety domains of Colas North America. The Manager's focus will be leadership of the team toward quality and on time implementation of solutions, continued development of team, and compliance with the organization's processes. The Construction Manager will drive the team in understanding the customer need and the larger business objectives that a product or feature will fulfill, articulates what success looks like for a product, and rallies a team to turn that vision into a reality.

Main Responsibilities
  • Mentors and motivates team members.
  • Supervises solutions using various software including HCSS HeavyJob and HeavyBid, JD Edwards Contract Management and Job Cost Management modules and various custom developed solutions.
  • Mentors team in functional, technical design, implementation and support of the applications mentioned above.
  • Supervises data gathering, design, development, validation, and deployment of software solutions, ensuring continuity, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Monitors team's project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, recommending actions.
  • Facilitates compliance with internal processes including systems development methodology, time collection, reporting.
  • Performs administrative management and leadership duties along with hands-on analysis and technical work.
  • Participates with Management Team in setting organization objectives, plans.
  • Creatively supports Construction objectives by gathering information, reviewing vendor software in the market and recommending business software solutions.
  • Review and approve specifications and designs.
  • Review and approve test coverage on projects and change requests.
  • Ensure the transition to support phase is completed appropriately with proper documentation.
  • Improves systems by studying current practices, designing improvements.
  • Reports to the Director of Applications
  • Available for Travel up to 25% in US and Canada
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer science or similar
  • Experience in construction materials industry.
  • 5 plus years of direct report Management
  • Strong SQL and relational databases skills
  • Excels at data gathering, defining requirements and software design
  • Positive demeanor and good work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • Exceptional written, verbal & listening communication skills
  • Strong work and personal ethics
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with any of the following or similar applications:
  • HCSS HeavyJob and HeavyBid, and JD Edwards.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and JIRA software.
  • Experience in the road construction industry.
  • French speaking
