Location:

All classroom times take place at MultiCare University (MCU) Puyallup, WA

Clinical Locations: Various units at Tacoma General (Tacoma, WA) and Good Samaritan Hospital (Puyallup, WA)

Program Details:

The training period of the program is 5-6 weeks in length depending on holiday closures.

Cohort Start Date: We are currently recruiting for a start date of June 3, 2024

All offers are contingent upon acceptable results on a pre-employment drug screen and background check. MultiCare maintains a nicotine-free work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as grooming, bed baths, toileting, incontinence care, perineal care, oral care, and other general hygiene needs.
  • Promote infection prevention by properly performing urinary catheter care, hand hygiene, and proper application/removal of personal protective equipment.
  • Insure accurate tracking of intake (food and drink) and output (urine and feces)
  • Dealing with bodily fluids, and the possibility of working around those with contagious diseases
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform duties as assigned in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Work and communicate in a professional manner.
  • This position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Working in a hospital setting does require the possibility of working weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Previous patient care or customer service experience preferred but not required.
  • Nursing Assistant Registered Licensure is to be obtained from the Department of Health within 4 weeks of hire (during the training period). MultiCare will pay for this cost.
  • CPR Certification is to be obtained within 2 weeks of hire (during the training period) MultiCare will pay for this cost.

Pay & Benefits:

This is a paid, benefits eligible position. Benefits are effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment at MultiCare.

MultiCare will pay the cost of the following items:


• Nursing Assistant Registered and Nurse Assistant Certified Licensure


• CPR Certification


• Nursing Assistant Certified written and skills exam (First attempt only)

Supplies:

For classroom instruction you will need:

  • Access to Wi-Fi for classroom assignments/homework
  • Scrubs (also needed for clinical instruction)
  • Watch with a second hand.
  • Proper Shoes (crocs are NOT permitted)

Program Schedule:

If extended an offer, the schedule during the training program will be:


• Monday-Friday, which includes clinical training and classroom training.


• The position is a .8 FTE (32 hours/week) schedules will be 8:00am-4:30pm


• Candidates should be prepared to dedicate 40 hours a week to clinical time, classroom time, and homework. This includes 32 hours of work/class time and 8 hours of homework/study time each week.

After Training:


• Once training is completed and licensure has been obtained your schedule will change to 12-hour shifts (three days a week on a rotating schedule). Days or nights are available.

FTE.8_ Shift: During Training M-F, 32hr work week. After Training: 3 days a week, 12 hours each day. Day and night shifts available.

Position Summary

The Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide quality care that is focused on the comfort and well being of the patient and family. Functions include basic patient care activities and customer service-oriented delivery of care to patients as defined by the nursing assistant skills competency evaluation checklist. This position requires a service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of supporting the delivery of care and services to patients from diverse ethnic and social groups. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of daily routine duties. Decisions regarding patient care or services require the review and approval of the Registered Nurse. Internal contact may include patient care, Laboratory, and Pharmacy staff and management. External contacts include physicians, patients, families, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) licensure obtained within four (4) weeks of hire
  • BLS certification obtained within two (2) weeks of hire
  • Previous patient care experience preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $ $17.17 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
