The Lead Data Engineer position will help to lead the charge on modernizing Genesco's data and reporting capabilities by aligning disparate data systems with business goals. The position will require strong analytical/technical skills and the ability to efficiently combine data from different sources with a keen eye toward data governance, quality and scalability. This position will work directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to solve complex business problems with data.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead the development, optimization, and implementation of sophisticated reporting and data driven applications and data models that help to revolutionize the retail experience
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of skilled data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design efficient, scalable solutions using modern data engineering practices
  • Ensure the highest quality and reliability of the team's work through comprehensive unit and integration testing practices
  • Stay at the forefront of data engineering technology trends and emerging best practices, incorporating them into project strategies and mentoring junior staff.

Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience
  • Deep knowledge of SQL, PLSQL, UNIX scripting, data architecture and modeling
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Experience with Reporting Software (IBM Cognos 10+, SSRS, PowerBI, Oracle BI, etc) a plus.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • On-call duty required
  • Some travel may be required
