We are currently looking for a strong, dynamic Area Leader to join the Coastal Commercial Unit leadership team. The Area Leader will be responsible for Pioneer and PhytoGen Seed brands and the Corteva Agriscience crop protection commercial organization in the Southern U.S. encompassing all or portions of the states of MO, AR, TN, AL, MS, LA, TX, OK.

This is a remote position based within the South Area geography. If hired, you will be required to travel as necessary to support business activities across this geography.

The Southern Area Leader establishes the vision and strategy for sales execution across the area, driving financial results and market share growth. This role requires strong seed/crop protection experience and strong inter-personal skills collaborating with a wide variety of colleagues to gain alignment and buy-in. The Area Leader is a people leader, focused on leading, growing, and motivating talent within the team to build strength in the Area, and overall Corteva leadership pipeline.

The Area Leader will assist with the development of, and lead the implementation of sales programs, CU strategies, and policies for the assigned markets in line with regional goals. They will assist with driving implementation of 5-year plans, annual tactical plans, and Profit outlook in concert with the overall regional process. Plus, they will ensure strategies are consistent with the overall regional strategies, manage assigned sales, marketing, technical/agronomy, and supply chain personnel by establishing vision, priorities, providing leadership, managing goals, overseeing the hiring and evaluation process, and administering compensation.

What You'll Do:

  • Execute Strategy & Gain Buy-In
  • Establish the Area's three-year vision and strategy for sales execution for both seed brands and crop protection.
  • Enable the strategic plan by obtaining alignment with Commercial Unit leaders, account management (where applicable), and marketing to determine branding, pricing, discount & fixed cost management, and targeted sales opportunities for existing/new products to ensure resonance in the local market.
  • Propose new value propositions that will differentiate the Corteva brand to the customer and create brand loyalty among farmers. Identify opportunities to increase brand presence and market share.
  • Provide leadership, vision, direction, and focus for market sales activities. Manage resource allocation to achieve volume, market share, and profit growth in the sales area.
  • Lead, Engage, & Grow Talent
  • Hire, develop, and motivate key talent. Lead a team of direct reports.
  • Ensure sales teams have the capability to address farmer profiles in the market and the ability to adapt methods used to engage with farmers and their evolving preferences.
  • Drive customer focus within teams, including navigating products to capture optimal value while ensuring customers are successful.
  • Educate team on financial acumen and hold them accountable for financial decisions.
  • Manage employee performance through the establishment, communication and clarification of expectations. Hold individuals accountable for meeting established performance standards. Accomplish objectives through others, delegate authority, organize staff, control costs and provide feedback.
  • Assist individuals with problem-solving, using each situation as an opportunity to coach and teach.
  • Optimize Market Insights & Seed/CP Experiences
  • Execute and manage regional go-to-market strategies and recommend changes based on market knowledge and insight (with collaboration from CU Leader and Marketing Director).
  • Support problem-solving queries in the field by connecting with the appropriate seed and crop protection experts (technical, supply chain, customer service, etc.).
  • Provide information to marketing and Commercial Unit leads on Area and customer insights to inform the global development pipeline.
  • Demonstrate experience within both seed and crop protection, bringing key insight, business acumen and knowledge to a variety of teams and projects.
  • Drive Financial Results & Market Growth
  • Drive overall profitability and growth of the Area (inclusive of profitability and share).
  • Collaborate with the US Marketing C.P. and Seeds Directors to align on area pricing strategies to optimize revenue and deliver contribution margins for EBITDA.
  • Collaborate with, or seek guidance from, regional R&D teams and the marketing team to sell fully integrated solutions that leverage both platforms directly to farmers.
  • Meet and exceed revenue targets, including taking ownership and accountability for volume and financial results in the face of adversity and tradeoffs, and anticipating and addressing downstream financial impact of key decisions.
  • Manage human and financial resource allocation to achieve volume, market share, and profit growth in assigned area

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Ag-business, Agronomy, Business, Marketing or related area with 10+ years of experience in marketing, sales, or sales management.
